Benalla Entries Now In
As the official entry deadlines approaches, WGC 2017 Benalla has received 114 entries from 29 Countries. There are 35 entrants in Open Class, 43 in 18m Class and 36 in 15m Class. Over the next few days, the competing pilots’ details will be entered on the left hand side of this page.
Some exciting gliders are on their way to Benalla that have not previously been seen in Australia -
The 28m wingspan Concordia from the USA, being flown by its designer/builder Dick Butler in Open Class, will surely impress with its glide angle of 70+. The new EB29 two-seat glider will replace the EB28. World champion Michael Sommer, who is well experienced at flying around Benalla, has not yet announced what glider he will be flying, although he previously flew the single seat EB29 to victory.

We await the introduction of the new Ventus 3 in 18m Class.
The highest performing 15m Class glider will be the Diana 2, to be flown by World Gliding Champion Sebastian Kawa and Polish teamate Lukasz Blaszczyk.
There are rumours of other new gliders on the way. We will let you know about them as we receive more information.
With so many visiting gliders and many of the top pilots in the world arriving, Benalla airfield will be an exciting place from Christmas until the closing ceremony on 22 January. What better place in the world than Benalla for a glider pilot to welcome in 2017?
We look forward to seeing you all there for a great party.
